Our quest for reality is restricted to a thin valency between the mind and world, where thought rebounds against the curve of “pure form,” the protean folds of dreams and insanity, and runs against the standing waves of “chaos,” as Jackson terms it, a noumenal realm for which Blake’s “every thing possible to be believ’d is an image of truth” serves as signpost.
